The Patan Durbar Square Tour introduces you to Patan (known as Lalitpur), one of the third-largest royal cities, along with Kathmandu and Bhaktapur Durbar Square. It is about 5km south of Kathmandu Valley.

The tour in Patan Durbar Square is known for its rich tradition of arts and handicrafts, stone carvings, and metal statues. It is also the birthplace of the great artists Araniko and Kuber Singh Shakya.

Economically, the place is based on trade and commerce, tourism, art, handicrafts, and agriculture. Patan Durbar is a famous place for Buddhist and Hindu culture.

One of the Buddha Jayanti festivals occurs on Jyestha Purnima, and Hindus celebrate Lord Buddha's birthday at the Krishna Temple in Patan Durbar Square.

The city’s main attraction is the Patan Durbar Square Tour, situated in its heart. It consists of artistic courtyards and gorgeous pagoda-style temples.

Here are three different Durbar Squares in the valley, all listed as UNESCO World Heritage Sites. There are three central courtyards or chokes during the trip.

  • A: Central choke.
  • B: Sundari choke
  • C: Keshav Narayan choked in the square.

The oldest choke is at the center of the Patan Durbar Square tour. The Sundari Chowk beholds a masterpiece of architecture. The Keshav Narayan  Temple is the site of the earliest Malla palace.

Culture Reflection by Patan Durbar Square Tour

The Patan Durbar Square tour reflects the Newari culture and architecture. The floor is square-shaped and tiled with typical red bricks.

The square holds old Newari residential houses, various temples, and structures built by the Newas. Along with the square, other cities' highlights mesmerize tourists. The Asoka Stupa houses bronze carvings that mark the four corners of Patan (250 B.C.), the Golden Temple, ancient palaces, and the Patan Museum. This museum was originally a Malla Palace and is open daily.

The history of the Malla dynasties is known to establish the Royal Square. The palace is also a highlight, home to the stone temple of Lord Krishna (Krishna Mandir).

The temple, constructed in the Shikhar style by King Siddhinarshingha Malla in the 17th century, has various works and 21 spires, art depicting scenes from the Mahabharata and Ramayana, in the Patan Durbar Square Tour.

The Asoka Stupak highlights this particular trek provided by Boundless Adventure. Also, it ensures a safe journey, making it a lifetime experience.
